Holy cow! It's MIDTERM!!! This first grading period we are sending home midterms to all of our students. These will be sent home next Friday, October 1st. You may have the flexibility in sending home your own "report" or one generated by Infinite Campus.
TO DO: If you are using IC's midterm, report please let Amy Griffin know ASAP and have everything ready to be run by Thursday, September 30th. I Looking ahead, The nine-weeks ends on October 29th, so report cards will go home the following Wednesday, November 3rd.
Josh Bray, Principal for the Day! During the 2021 legislative session, House Concurrent Resolution 25 was enacted with no dissenting votes to declare the General Assembly's support for civic education, declare the third week in September as the kick-off week for America's Legislators Back to School Program, and encourage members to participate in the “Principal for a Day” (PFAD) program between September 13 and October 29. Representative Bray has graciously accepted our invitation to participate and will be here on September 29th from 8:00-11:30. I will take him on walkthroughs, have him greet visitors, stop by the cafeteria during breakfast, etc.
TO DO: Let me know if you want Rep. Bray to come by and read a book or talk about his role in our state government. I need to know the time and what you would like him to do.
Google Site/Remote Teaching Follow-up
TO DO: As you finalize your lesson plans this week, think about at least two lessons where you can simulate what it would be like for you students if they were doing the lesson remotely (for snow or quarantine) (This part repeated from Monday's directions): Practice using the Google Meets with your students and teach them to get on your Google Site. You could team up with your grade level partner teacher if you like. (Switch kids and teach them from next door!) Before fall break, choose several times to practice what learning would look like if you were to go virtual. Help your students to get a feel for it and learn how to get on and trouble-shoot. Use the info you get from your virtual practice to develop some hints or even a guide to send home to parents.
Ethics Training Follow-upBased on what we learned Monday, be thinking about what our next steps should be as a school. How can we develop a Standard of Care for our School? What do we have in place to protect ourselves? Think about protection from accusations/allegations or protecting your own emotional/mental health. In which areas of student care do we need to set clearer parameters? If you find these questions intriguing, you may want to sign up for the ethics committee.
