Advancing the Vision

Active Engagement can look very different depending on the activity and level of students, but a key feature of it is that students communicate--that they perform whatever it is you are trying to teach them.  Students can't just be exposed to high-level content, but they need to be able to DO WITH IT what they need to do according to the level of the standards.

Shiloh, Kayla, and Rhonda have been working really hard on actively engaging their students this year. Check it out...

If you ever doubt yourself or our mission, if you ever hear the haters say, "PLE is just about test scores" all you have to do is visit Mrs. Stanley's room.  See how she, Rhonda, and Kayla are working to give each one of their children a voice.  Can you imagine what it must be like to have things to say, needs to communicate, or feelings to share and not have a voice to do that? Now, for the first time some of our most precious babies have found their voices.

Active engagement helps students find their voices...YOU are helping your students find their voices.  Every time you give a student who is sad a hug, you help a student find his or her voice...every time you call a parent of a student you are worried about, you help a student find his or her voice...every time you use intervention time to teach a lesson instead of catching up on work, you help a student find his or her voice...every time you work with a staff member that you have a difficult time working with because it will benefit a child, you help a student find his or her voice...

YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  Thank you for doing hard things so that all of our students can find their voices.
