Wow. This is it y'all. Race to the end. Our last chance to "get it all in" before the end. That is the temptation, isn't it? What can we get in these last 7 weeks so that our students get some exposure to content not covered before the end of the year? Well, everything that we know about how children learn and how the brain works tells us that this doesn't work.
It isn't about what we cover, it's about what they learn. This week in lesson plans and walkthroughs I will continue to concentrate on what we do to ensure learning. You may get tired of hearing this after a while, but taking a pulse on what students know and responding to that is where it is at!
In lesson plans that means I will be looking for what you are doing to intentionally plan for overt responses. Remember that overt responses allow us to get a pulse on what our students are getting from the lesson. We know that there is no point in plowing through if they aren't getting it, but are we asking ourselves if we are challenging students enough?
In walkthroughs I can't wait to see what you do after the overt response. I am looking forward to seeing mid-course corrections! Again, there are lots of options for those, but it's difficult to implement those on the fly. Planning is important. Be sure to follow the link in the Panther Points slide and in this paragraph.
Have a wonderful week y'all! I am looking forward to seeing you back in action!
