Wednesday, March 10th: Instead of regular PLCs we will have quick (15 minutes tops) standing team meetings either outside if the weather is pretty or in one of the classrooms. The purpose of these is a quick check-in to see how our full-return to in-person instruction is going.
Student of the Month: Please send me an email with a student's name, grade, and description of awesomeness so I can recognize him or her at the board meeting.
Biometric Screenings: The health department won't be able to do biometric screenings this year, but we have another avenue if we have 20 people who are interested. Fill this out by Tuesday, March 9th if you want a biometric screening. All you have to do is enter your name on this google form. If I get 20 names, I'll book it. They won't come for less than 20 people and it takes 6-8 weeks to book, so it will be in May.
Kindergarten Registration: Please send this Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe0kwr6Z8Ruhyoy6rt1wC1Te_TIOjxWLK1AYYyMVZCh_k_WwA/viewform?gxids=7628 to your families through Remind about Kindergarten Registration.
Here's the info: Please fill out the electronic form to register your child for kindergarten at PLE for the 2021-2022 school year. Students must be 5 years old by August 1st to enroll in kindergarten. If you are unable to complete the form please contact the school office at 859-792-2122.Prior to starting in August your child will need the following documentation (if your child attended pre-school at PLE we have your information):

Return to In-Person Reminders
This is it! What we've all been waiting for ALL YEAR. Our kids are finally coming back full-time. I'm excited, I'm sure you are too, and I know our kids are ready for some normalcy. Here are a few reminders about our return;
1. Contact Tracing/Social Distancing-We will continue to contact trace. Remember to keep your daily seating charts in your binder in your room so we can access them easily if needed. Your team leader should have brought you a new seating chart and classroom arrangement for the cafeteria, and they are on the blog. We will still practice social distancing as much as possible with staggered desks in the classroom, and skipping a seat in the cafeteria. We can now sit students on both sides of the tables in the lunchroom. So the long tables can have 8 kids to a table. The round tables in the middle can have 4 to a table if we skip a seat. If there are a few instances where we are unable to skip a seat, that's ok now. We will try our best! For breakfast, only Pre-k, K, and 1st will eat in the cafeteria. This hasn't changed, so I didn't do new seating arrangements. Pre- K only needs one table, and since we can sit on both sides of the table now, it shouldn't change much. The cafeteria ladies will no longer have carts in the hall for breakfast for 3rd-5th. They will go through the line to grab their breakfast and take it to their classroom. 2nd's breakfast will still be brought to the gym.
2. Schedules- there have been no changes to the master schedule as far as times go. The only difference is when the weather is pretty, you may combine your morning gym times for a grade-level recess outside. Please continue with one class on the playground equipment and one in the yard.
We have a new specials schedule. It, along with the master, restroom, recess, morning duty, and lunch schedules are on the blog under "20-21 schedules".
3. Cleaning/Restroom-Dawn will continue to clean your rooms during your morning gym time (or combined morning recess). We still have our built-in restroom breaks in our schedule. Please make sure your students have gone before specials or lunch. I asked Dawn about the orange pads we use to clean tables with; those are cleaned by Cintas and returned to the school. You can take your old one and put it in the bin in Dawn's custodial room, and pick up a new one on her shelf when yours is dirty. I would recommend changing those at least weekly.
4. Chromebooks- Great news! We will be one to one next year for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. For now, we are not going to take Chromebooks up. Feel free to have kids bring them in and use them in the classroom if you want. Just remember, each Chromebook is checked out to a specific child, and they are responsible for the charges if it is broken or lost. This could be good practice for next year!
Your team leaders should be able to answer many of your questions after our meeting on Tuesday, but as always, feel free to let me know if have any questions or concerns. You guys ROCK!
-Lisa
