August 26th Announcements

Sheewww!  Well, we survived our first morning of "Morning Meetings."  I know some of you had a FANTASTIC experience, while others were sweating and worn out by the time you were finished due to the tech issues and calls you experienced.  Here are few things some of us learned (the hard way) lol during the Google Meets this morning:

Screen Freezing:  In Google Meet, students' video takes up a BUNCH of bandwidth.  (That's why your screen might freeze). You will have to teach your students to shut off their video initially if you are having trouble and then have them click on video when it's their turn to talk.  This will be something you will have to teach them.

The more students that are on a meet, the more issues you may have.  I suggest breaking up your Google Meets by homeroom and not doing them by grade level.

In September, Meet is adding a feature allowing us to do breakout rooms!  This will be great for us once we get rolling.  Lisa learned some great techniques during her Kagan training for virtual learning, so this is perfect timing! More to come soon!

Morning Meeting Directions for Parents- In order for the office staff to be able to answer questions when parents call, please complete this google doc, with instructions on how to "find" your morning meeting. Specials and Sped teams, you may not have a "morning meeting" but you will be live at some point, so post directions on how to "find" you. See the example entry on the google doc.

Teacher Evaluation

1.  Self-Reflection and PGPs -

I don't have some people's Self-Reflection/PGPs.  I just finished going through the electronic evaluation folders to see who I still need the self-reflection/PGPs from.  If I do not have yours, I will send you an email.  If you do not receive an email from me, that means you are good to go--that I have yours.

If you do not have yours done, I put the tab back at the top of the blog so that you will have the page with the instructions and the link.

"Other Professionals" (SLPs, LMS, and Counselors) The district has prepared the form for your Self-Reflection and PGPs and shared it with me.  (It was not ready in the spring) I will share it with you through email.  Please complete it by Tuesday, September 1st and share it with me.
