Supportive and Well-Managed Learning Environment

It was so great to begin walkthroughs this week looking for aspects of a "supportive and well-managed learning environment."  Providing a solid learning environment sets the stage for everything you do as a teacher and is one of the many strengths you will see in our school.
Check out how Ms. Jennings clearly communicates her expectations to her students:

Some years you will need to communicate your expectations before you transition to EVERY activity.  Then you will have to consistently implement your management plan and hold students accountable for meeting those expectations.  This is also a key part of our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports.  Loading up the Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions won't make an impact if there are issues with Tier I.

This is also why I am encouraging Lisa to get into classrooms and coach teachers on behavior strategies.  She is really good at seeing the big picture and breaking it down into easy to understand and implement steps to help our students.  With Lisa providing the behavior coaching for both adults and students and leading our Behavioral RTI process, we are establishing a system that allows us all to problem-solve together from several angles.  It really is wonderful how you are working together  to make a difference for kids.
